Despite indications they were giving their marriage another try, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have officially called it quits, nearly two years after first announcing their separation.
Both actors filed divorce paperwork in Los Angeles County Superior Court Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking joint custody of their three kids — Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.
The news comes less than a month after the Argo director revealed he had sought treatment for alcohol addiction.
The couple initially separated days after their 10th wedding anniversary in 2015.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple said in a June 2015 statement. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
In recent months, the couple has been spotted together, leading to speculation that their separation and divorce was off and they were reconciling.
"Jen has called off the divorce," People magazine claimed a source close to Garner told them last month. “She really wants to work things out with Ben. They are giving things another try."
