Skull Found at Home of Woman Who Was Reported Missing in 1988
Peggy Sue Case was 28 years old when she was reported missing by co-workers on July 15, 1988, officials said.
The remains of a Utah woman who vanished nearly three decades ago may have been found buried in the backyard storage cellar of her home, authorities said.
A Spanish Fork resident was taking items out of the cement basement Monday morning when he noticed an area of the dirt floor sinking, the Spanish Fork Police Department said.
Having heard before that a previous tenant had disappeared while living there, the man and a friend dug down into the dirt floor for about 10 minutes before coming across what appeared to be a human skull wrapped in a blanket and plastic mesh, police said.

Case and her boyfriend Michael Kufrin lived together at the home when she was last seen at a hot tub party the pair attended six days before she was reported missing, authorities said.

They had been seen arguing at the party before leaving together, officials said.
Kufrin had been named a person of interest in Case’s disappearance after she went missing, having reportedly called her workplace to says she was sick after the party before claiming the next day that she had gone out of town to buy a car.
Despite their suspicions, there was no evidence of a crime.
Kufrin allegedly told authorities Case had contacted him several times after being reported missing, but he did not know her whereabouts. He later stopped cooperating with police, officials said.
Kufrin left the state a few months after Case was reported missing and is believed to have served time in prison before moving to his home state of Illinois, police told InsideEdition.com.

His whereabouts are currently unknown.
The medical examiner’s office is working to positively identify the remains found in the basement, authorities said.
Though investigators had dug through the soil in the cellar the year of Case’s disappearance, they didn’t find any evidence there, police said.
