4 People Dead, Including Gunman, in Shooting at UPS Facility: Cops

A United Parcel Service employee opened fire inside a sprawling distribution center, authorities said.

Four people were killed, including the gunman, when a UPS employee opened fire at a sprawling company facility in San Francisco, officials said.

The shooter turned the gun on himself after killing three employees, according to UPS spokesman Steve Gaut.

“The company is saddened and deeply concerned about affected employees,” UPS said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those touched by this incident.”

The shooting was reported Wednesday morning at a distribution center in the Potrero Hill neighborhood, police said. The company said four employees were involved.

But there were differing numbers of fatalities in local media reports. The San Francisco Police Department did not immediately confirm the number of fatalities.

Auto shop owner Robert Kim said he heard five to eight rapid gun shots, CBS affiliate KPIX-TV reported. Then he saw “a mob of UPS drivers” running down the street screaming, "Shooter! Shooter!"

Dozens of employees were escorted from the plant under police guard.

The incident occurred just hours after a former Bernie Sanders volunteer opened fire at a GOP congressional baseball practice.

The gunman was injured in a shootout with police and later died in police custody.
