Growing Pains Actor Vanishes in Vancouver

Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig disappeared during a trip to Vancouver. Now his friends and family are hoping for his safe return. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.

It's a missing person drama unfolding behind the scenes at the Olympics.

Actor Andrew Koenig, who played Boner in the hit series Growing Pains, is missing in Vancouver. His disappearance has triggered a desperate search.

He is the son of Walter Koenig, who is famous for playing Mr. Chekhov in the original Star Trek.

The 42-year-old former child star was last seen at Vancouver's Stanley Park on Valentine's Day. Then he simply vanished in a city packed with half a million tourists for the 2010 Winter Games.

"Everything that we've uncovered so far leads us to believe that Andrew is still in the Vancouver area because of the use of his debit cards, credit cards, cell phone use, online activity, we believe he's still in Vancouver," a Vancouver Police Department spokesman told INSIDE EDITION.

Koenig's sister Danielle says he has a long history of depression.

"We love him very much and we just want him to come home," she tells INSIDE EDITION.

Koenig went to Vancouver for the Olympics and to visit friends, but was due back in Los Angeles on February 16th. He never returned.

"His friends have all gathered together to put up posters around town and we're in contact with each other, we love him very much and we're all praying for his safe return," says Maggie Langrick, a friend of Koenig's.

Adding to the mystery: before leaving his home in Los Angeles, he gave away many of his personal belongings.

"Do you think that he may have done something?" INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asks Danielle Koenig.

"We hope that he just wanted to be alone for a while but of course he could have done something. It's definitely possible," admits Danielle.

Meanwhile, his former Growing Pains co-star Kirk Cameron reached out to his old friend via Twitter: "Andrew, if you're reading this, please call me. Mike and Boner could always work things out when they put their minds to it. I'm praying for you, pal. Hope to hear from you soon."

And friends Alyssa Milano and Sarah Silverman are also urging people on Twitter to help in the search.

"We are just so desperately sad. We miss him so much," says Danielle.

Police in Vancouver say they're hopeful Koenig is still alive and say the publicity has generated a number of "helpful" leads.

If you've seen Andrew since February 14th, PLEASE contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.
