Teen Uses Her Hair to Comfort Cancer-Stricken Mom Left Bald by Chemotherapy Treatment

"Love cures, and I'm pretty sure that it helped a lot because the treatment is so difficult and having support makes things easier," said Geysa Souza, 16.

For many cancer patients, losing hair is one of the many devastating side effects of chemotherapy, but a teen dedicated to comforting her mother found a unique way to cheer the woman up.

Geysa Souza, 16, of Brazil, can be seen in a viral video styling her own long hair over her mother's bald head. With her mom holding the camera, Geysa would tuck her own hair behind her mom’s ears, or pull it slightly over her face to give her bangs.

“We always play with her and we are always trying to make her forget about this problem,” Souza told InsideEdition.com. “Love cures, and I’m pretty sure that it helped a lot because the treatment is so difficult and having support makes things easier.”

Souza explained her mom, Marinalva, was diagnosed with breast cancer toward the end of last year.

“It was just so shocking to her, my dad and I,” she explained.

Despite rising medical bills, “we realized we needed to stay positive and closer, because it was going to be a fight for three and not only one of us," Souza said.

"We changed our lives entirely, [but] me and my dad, we’ve decided to make my mom happy no matter what.”
