Self-Conscious Suspect Asks Police to Take His 'Unflattering' Mugshot Off Facebook
A wanted man in Wales has turned himself in to police after asking authorities to remove a not-so-flattering photo of him from Facebook.
The wide-eyed mug of Wayne Esmonde appeared on the South Wales Police Swansea and Neath Port Talbot's page last month.
"I am him. Not a very flattering mugshot," cops say the 35-year-old wrote. "I'd appreciate it if you'd take this post down. Innocent until proven guilty and all that."
Esmonde is accused in a July 18 assault, according to the BBC.
"I've spoken to my solicitor and they will advise me what to do next. Thanks," Esmonde added.
Apparently, the attorney told him to hand himself over to police because that's just what Esmonde did Thursday at the Swansea Central police station.
The police said they would take down the photo when they had traced the wanted man's whereabouts.
By Friday, it appeared authorities had stayed true to their word.
