A neighbor's expletive-laden tirade aimed at controversial comedian Kathy Griffin was caught on tape, and has prompted an apology.
Jeffrey Mezger, a wealthy businessman and CEO of KB Home, the home building giant, apparently went ballistic after Griffin's boyfriend, Randy Bick, called cops in Los Angeles to complain about loud noises from next door.
The screaming match took place Saturday at Griffin's $10 million dollar home in a Bel-Air gated community. Mezger is her next door neighbor.
“Hey Randy, go f*** yourself. Seriously? You call on my grandkids at 9 o’clock? You’re not even the f***ing owner. You’re stuck with a f***ing bald d*** who Donald Trump kind of put the heat on,” Mezger can be heard shouting in a video. “Now you’re calling the cops? F*** you and f*** Kathy. You’re not our f***ing neighbor, you’re a f***ing a******.”
Griffin shaved her head in July in solidarity with her sister Joyce, who was battling cancer. Joyce died last Thursday.
The audio recording was taken from a security camera and obtained by The Huffington Post.
A panicked Griffin could be heard in the background.
“Randy, what's happening?” she repeatedly asked.
“If you're asking Randy what's happening, he called the cops on my 5-year-old granddaughter," Mezger said. He then called her a homophobic slur and a “c***.”
Griffin's neighbor has now apologized, saying in a statement that he regrets losing his temper. He also apologized for the language he used, saying it does not reflect who he is or what he believes.
