Teacher Shot to Death in Front of His Family During Home Invasion Robbery: Police
The middle school teacher was trying to protect his family when he was shot, police said.
An Oklahoma teacher trying to protect his family was shot dead during a home invasion robbery, police said.
Shane Anderson, 44, taught geography at Oneta Ridge Middle School.

“I am devastated by the news of Mr. Anderson’s tragic passing,” said Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent Janet Dunlop. “Our hearts are breaking for his family, and we will support them every way possible during this unimaginable time.”
A 16-year-old on a crime spree was arrested after being tracked down by K-9 units, patrol officers and detectives, authorities said. The teen is also a suspect in the kidnapping of an elderly couple that occurred about 30 minutes before Sunday’s home invasion, police said.
In the earlier incident, the teenager allegedly kidnapped the couple at gunpoint, forced them to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash, then ordered them back to their home, where he raped the wife, Tulsa police said.
He left the couple’s house and walked to the Anderson residence, where he confronted Anderson’s wife and two young daughters as they walked to the family’s car, police said.
The teen forced the three back into their home, where Anderson was inside, authorities said.

The girls began screaming and Anderson grabbed the teenager and the two struggled, police said. The teen shot Anderson, who collapsed on the floor and died, according to authorities.
The teenager then ran from the home.
Nearly 12 hours later, the teen pulled a gun on another couple and robbed them, police said. Officers who were already searching the area after the preceding crimes chased the 16-year-old down and arrested him.
He has been charged with murder, robbery and sexual assault, authorities said. It was unclear whether the teen would be charged as an adult.
A phone message left by InsideEdition.com with the Tulsa Police Department Tuesday night was not immediately returned.
