Couple Credits Neighbor's Pool for Saving Them During Wildfire After They Received 'Zero Warning'
A California couple in a wildfire-ravaged region escaped certain death as they jumped into pool, where they remained for six hours Monday while flames raged around them
John, 70, and Jan Pascoe, 65, were not sure what to do as the fires quickly approached, but then remembered that their neighbor's pool could be an option.
"I look out my window and there was a wall of flames at my window,” she told the Los Angeles Times. "We had no warning, zero warning. We ran down here and found our way to the pool."
It was pitch black as every structure around them burned to the ground.
They stayed in the freezing water for six long hours, and it wasn't until night turned to day that they emerged.
The pool is currently filled with debris and soot.
The Pascoes lost everything in the wildfire, but feel fortunate to have escaped with their lives.
