Jeopardy's Alex Trebek Speaks Out About Hotel Burglary

Alex Trebek cut the ribbon on the new Jeopardy Hall of Fame and recalled details of the night he was woken up by a burglar in his hotel room. INSIDE EDITION reports from the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Alex Trebek is talking about the terrifying night he woke to find a female burglar in his hotel room.

"Jeez, Alex, what would you have done if she had pulled out a gun?" said Trebek.

71-year-old Trebek and his wife Jean were at the Marriott Marquis hotel in San Francisco.

The Jeopardy host chased the burglar from their room and down the corridor at 2:30 a.m.

"I gave no thought to it. I chased that person because she had something of mine," said Trebek.

But he ended up on crutches when he fell at the height of the chase and tore his Achilles tendon.

"I am now able to walk without the crutches, although the doctor wants me to use the crutches for any long-distance walking," said Trebek.

As Trebek cut the ribbon at the new Jeopardy Hall of Fame in Los Angeles and gave a speech to fans, his injury was still evident.

Trebek says he's willing to testify against the woman arrested in the case. She's pleaded not guilty to burglary.

"They haven't set a trial date yet, so when it comes up, I'll be there," said Trebek.
