INSIDE EDITION talks to Bill O'Reilly about his bestselling new book Killing Lincoln and which candidate he thinks would win the Republican nomination if the election happened now.
Bill O'Reilly is sharing his prediction for who'll win the Republican nomination now that Sarah Palin has finally announced she won't run.
"If the election were held tomorrow I think Romney would probably win," O'Reilly said.
Romney is certainly getting a run for his money from a surprising source – former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain. The latest poll shows them running neck and neck, with 17 percent support among Republican primary voters.
O'Reilly said, "We like Mr. Cain, he's feisty. Does he have enough experience to be president? Probably not."
As for Chris Christie's decision not to enter the presidential race, O'Reilly says the governor should focus on cleaning up New Jersey before he considers the presidency.
"Snooki lives there; I mean this is a trouble state. If he can clean it up then he's a bona fide contender," O'Reilly said.
O'Reilly's new book Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever is already a bestseller.
"What motivated you to write the book now?" INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney asked.
"Well we need literature in this country. We're a divided nation, just as we were before the Civil War," O'Reilly said. "We need really somebody to step up, and we need Americans to understand that we did have great leadership under Abraham Lincoln."
Meanwhile, Sarah Palin's big announcement that she isn't running for president was a hot topic at the New York premiere of the new political thriller The Ides of March, which stars George Clooney, who also co-wrote and directed the film.
"I'm not surprised, it seemed sort of late to get in the game," Clooney said.
"Thank goodness. Oh my God, ok well that's good," was Christie Brinkley's reaction.
And Jimmy Kimmel had a field day with the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live!:
"Palin said she won't be campaignin' or presidentin' but she will continue with her speech makin' and TV commentatin'. So that's that I guess. We'll never get to see a Snowmobile One."
