Gabby Giffords Pledge

A memorial is held one year after the horrific shooting in Arizona, that claimed the life of six people and wounded 12, including Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

It was a profile in courage when Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, with her head held high, recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Her voice rang out one year to the day after she survived a gunshot wound to the head in the Tucson shooting rampage that left six people dead and twelve wounded.

Gabby was helped onstage by her husband, former Astronaut Mark Kelly, who tenderly put his arm around her waist and helped her raise her right arm.

She used her left hand to hold her right hand over her heart, a result of her injury.

Gabby smiled throughout the moving ceremony.

She waved from the stage as the crowd used glow sticks to remember the victims of one of the most horrific shootings in U.S. history.
