Moments before a school bus was torn apart by a tornado, the seats had been filled with children. They escaped in the nick of time, thanks to the quick-thinking of their bus driver.
Perry: "There's the tornado right there guys. Look, the funnel cloud! Tornado on the ground guys. Quiet! The tornado is on the ground."
Dispatcher: "I see the tornado on the ground north of the school."
As the tornado closed in, Perry told the kids to take cover.
Perry: 'We're going back to the school. If you got a book to put over your head, do it. Get in the middle."
She could see the tornado coming right at them
Perry told the kids, "Guys we're just going to go as fast as we can into the school."
As they pulled up to the school, Perry hustled everyone inside.
"Everybody stay together. Our group together. Right now, go go go go go go go," exclaimed Perry.
Then the tornado hit.
The windows of the bus were blown in and the bus was lifted into the air, carried across a parking lot, and slammed into a diner.
A tragedy avoided in the nick of time.
