Outrage Grows Over Lavish GSA Party

Nationwide outrage over the lavish party thrown for the GSA at tax payer expense has lead to the resignation of GSA Chief Martha Johnson. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

Outrage continues to sweep the nation as we learn more about that lavish government conference in Las Vegas that cost taxpayers a whopping $823,000.

Jon Stewart said on The Daily Show, "Even better than the scandal spending $800,000 on a conference," then cut to a clip from Fox News that said, 'They got $8,000 spent just on yearbooks for the conference participants,' They got yearbooks?!"

The four-day taxpayer-funded junket was thrown by the General Services Administration (GSA), the very agency charged with eliminating wasteful spending.

On the Tonight Show, Jay Leno said, "You know what GSA stands for? Go Spend it All."

Here's just some of the ridiculous items they spent your money on:

  • $146,000 on catered food, including $7,000 for sushi.
  • Jumbo shrimp that cost $4 a shrimp.
  • $6,325 for commemorative coins.

Jon Stewart said, "$6,300 of our money to make fake money commemorating the weekend they all wasted our money."

And perhaps most ridiculous of all—they spent $3,200 for a mind reader.

Too bad the mind reader couldn't help them foresee the fallout.

The winning video from the conference's talent show shows a government employee rapping and joking about how they'll never be investigated for excessive spending.

The employee raps: "Donate to my vacation, love to the nation, I'll never be under OIG investigation."

Never be under investigation? Not anymore.
