High School Teacher Dumped By 18-Year-Old Girlfriend

INSIDE EDITION has the latest in the case of the California teacher who admitted to having an affair with an 18-year-old student. She's now dumped him, a move that comes as the teacher pleaded not guilty to charges that years ago he engaged in sexual c

James Hooker, the 41-year-old business teacher at a Modesto high school shocked the nation when he had a relationship with a 18-year-old student and they moved in together.

Suddenly, Hooker is facing the music in court, for a charge that may never have come to light, if he and Jordan Powers hadn't boasted to the world about their love story.

In a 2012 interview with Good Morning America Powers said, "People don't agree, because he was a teacher and I was a student, but I don't agree."

They even appeared on the Dr. Phil show along with Jordan's mom, Tammie, who is enraged by the whole thing.

Hooker not only left his wife and three daughters to set up house at an apartment complex with his 18-year-old girlfriend. Hooker vowed he'd never had a relationship with any other student besides Jordan.

In that 2012 interview Hooker said on Good Morning America, "I'm confident that in 15 years, not a single student can come forward and say this has happened."

But that's exactly what has happened, Hooker now stands accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old female student back in 1998. He pleaded not guilty and was in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing.

INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asked Modesto detective Steve Standfield, "Is there any allegation that this is a pattern with this teacher?"

Standfield said, "I think that is always a concern."

The accuser came forward after seeing their love story all over the news. A heartbroken Jordan dumped her boyfriend and moved out of the apartment.

The rage and sorrow in her voice are evident in a telephone interview Jordan gave with KXTV.

"I told him that we were over," said Powers. She continued and said, "He was just like, ‘I love you, I'm sorry,' but I'm not even believing a word he says now."

It's unclear whether Jordan has moved back with her mother. Tammie says that Hooker is constantly trying to get in touch with her daughter. She's issued this plea on her Facebook page: "Leave this kid and this family alone!"

Just like that, a bizarre love story takes a dark turn and things may only get worse for the man who swept his high school student off her feet.

"I do hope he pays the time for this 17-year-old girl and whoever else is out there," said Powers.
