You've never seen a panhandler like this. Sitting on a Harley wearing a skimpy black bikini and boots, a woman's sign reads "Not homeless. Need boobs."
That's right, she's actually panhandling to raise money for breast implants. Chrissy Lance works as a part-time bartender and is a full-time nursing student. Lance says she's always been self-conscious of her flat double A cup chest.
So what's the reaction? Some drivers stopped and took photos.
"Hope your getting them," said one driver.
On a whim, the 37-year-old single mom came up with the implant sign stunt.
"It started out as a joke and nobody believed I'd do it," said Lance.
She applied for a panhandler permit, donned her traffic-stopping outfit, and unabashedly held up her sign on a busy street in Akron, Ohio, asking for dollars for implants.
One man said, "You look fine the way you are. Here's some money. Good luck."
Donations started rolling in. But you won't believe who just happened to come by. Her grade school teacher Toni Macey posed for a photo and even contributed a few bucks to Lance's implant fund.
"I think it's hillarious," said Macey.
Chrissy only raised $200, but could not imagine what would happen next. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer got wind of her stunt after someone posted her story on his Facebook page. He flew her to Miami and offered to give her the $6,000 implant procedure for free.
"The greatest thing in the world is to give another person a favor," said Dr. Salhauer. "The fact that she was standing on the street corner with a sign asking for money for breast implants, that's an 'only in America' story."
Once a double A cup, Lance received full C cup implants. The procedure took just one hour, and Lance was wheeled into recovery and was overwhlemed by what she saw. Six weeks later, she fills out a bikini like never before.
"It is a dream come true," said Lance.
