Young Girl Pleas To Have Stolen Dog Returned

After a young girl pleaded and offered her piggy bank savings in order to get her stolen dog back, the girl was reunited with her pooch after it was found in a parking lot 80 miles away. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

It was a plea for the return of a stolen puppy and it touched the hearts of the nation.

10-year-old Marissa Mabanag offered everything in her piggy bank. A pretty impressive $500 for the safe return of her five-month-old Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix named Meeko. Marissa was given the pooch for getting all A's in school.

The dog was stolen when some heartless crooks broke into her house in San José, California. They busted through the sliding door, took $10,000 worth of electronics and the dog, which to Marissa was priceless.

I just can't believe I got robbed,” she said.

Cops and firefighters saw Marissa’s heartfelt plea and kicked in an extra $6,000 in reward money.

Five days after Meeko was stolen, a woman came forward saying she found the little dog in a Target parking lot one hundred miles away.

Marissa had no idea her dog was waiting for her at a press conference.

"I want to say 'Thank You' to everybody for making this happen," said Marissa.

The Good Samaritan could not take the piggy bank that Marissa offered and Marissa learned a valuable lesson in this story of a dog being lost and then found.

"I am now learning that there are a lot of bad people in the world, [but] there are good people," she said.
