On Oprah Winfrey's talk show, John Edwards's mistress Rielle Hunter claims Elizabeth Edwards found out about her husband's affair after he disclosed it on national TV. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
John Edwards' ex-mistress Rielle Hunter drops a bombshell on Oprah. Rielle says Elizabeth Edwards only learned about her husband John's infidelity after he admitted his affair on national television.
"She didn't know until after the interview. He came clean with her after that interview," Rielle told Oprah.
In the interview, which took place in Rielle's living room in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rielle says Elizabeth was not only clueless about the affair, she actually urged her husband to go on Nightline to deny the reports.
"Why did he do that interview?" Oprah asked.
"Everyone who was close to him well, who knew the facts and knew the truth said please don't do that interview. Please don't do that interview," replied Rielle.
"Elizabeth really wanted him to do that interview. She wanted him to say, 'you, know, you gotta get out in front of this...you gotta say the truth and speak the truth' and, she didn't know the truth." Rielle said.
"What surprised me the most? She doesn't think that she's a home wrecker, doesn't think of herself as a home wrecker. And she does not think that she played a key role in breaking up the Edwards' marriage," Oprah said.
INSIDE EDITION showed the Oprah interview to body language expert Tonya Reiman, author of the new book The Yes Factor.
"She takes a deep breath in and when we do that, typically that's a time taker. We take a nice deep breath in and that give us some a few seconds to think about our answer," Reiman said. "The next thing she does is close off her body language. She crosses her legs and that's kind of her way of saying, 'gosh I really don't want to answer this.' When you see someone making a statement and they shrug their shoulders, typically that's a direct contradiction to what they're saying. It's almost as if they don't believe their own statement."
