Joe Biden Advocates Buying Shotguns Over Assault Rifles

Vice President Joe Biden suprised everyone in an online interview on gun control when he suggested buying a shotgun to defend yourself. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

Double-barrelled advice from the Veep himself—Joe Biden.

"If you want to protect yourself, get a double barrel shotgun," said Biden.

The eye-opening remark by the president's point man in the national debate over gun violence came during a live online forum with Parents magazine.

It all started when Biden appeared to be taken aback by a question posted by a Parents magazine reader named Kate who asked, "Do you believe that banning certain weapons and high-capacity magazines will mean that law-abidding citizens will then become more of a target to criminals, as we will have no way to sufficiently protect ourselves?"

The vice president shared some advice he's given to his wife, Jill.

Biden said, "We live in an area that's wooded and it's somewhat secluded. I said, 'Jill, if there is ever a problem, walk out on the balcony, put that double barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.' "

The veep's advice is triggering an avalanche of reaction.

Steve Doocy on Fox and Friends said, "What ever happened to, 'Hey, is somebody out there?' "

Whoopi Goldberg said on The View, "I"m telling you, that sound, when you hear that double click...yes!"

Biden owns two shotguns, but reiterated his position against assault weapons and high capacity ammunition clips.

"You don't need an AR 15. It's harder to aim, it's harder to use, and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun. Buy a shotgun," said Biden.
