A Florida man confessed to fatally shooting his wife on Facebook, posting a horrific photo of her bloody body on the social media site along with explanation for killing her.
Derek Medina, 31, allegedly said on social media that he killed his wife, 27-year-old Jennifer Alfonso, in their South Miami home because he was "not going to stand anymore with the abuse."
“Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news’ my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” Medina wrote on Facebook.
The photo shows the dead woman's body with her legs folded under her in the kitchen of their South Miami home and was captioned: "RIP Jennifer Alfonso."
Cops discovered the woman's body in the home, where her 10-year-old daughter was also found. The little girl wasn't physically hurt and police covered her in a blanket as they led her out of the home.
Medina appeared in court handcuffed in a white prison jumpsuit and confessed to the killing and subsequent social media post, but claimed it was in self-defense.
Medina's father spoke out in defense of his son, saying: "He just said his wife picked up a knife, they had a big fight, and he shot her.”
“I love you. Only God knows the reason that this happened. Only God knows," Medina's father said.
The couple was married in 2010, divorced in 2012 and remarried three months later.
Medina was an avid user of social media and posted a Facebook photo of himself with a knife and gun wearing a camouflage vest.
He has over 100 videos on YouTube, including one that showed him working out in a suit and tie. He can also be seen singing along to his smart phone in another video. He appeared as an extra on an episode of the USA series Burn Notice, which he proudly spoke about on his YouTube channel.
Medina also self-published a series of e-books, including one titled: How I Saved Someone's Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communication.
