Wife of Syrian Dictator Goes Shopping Amidst Turmoil

While the world reacts in horror to the Syrian government reportedly attacking its own people with chemical weapons, the wife of the Syrian dictator goes shopping. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

She's shopping for shoes while her nation is going up in flames.

The beautiful Asma al-Assad, known as 'Emma' to her friends, is the wife of Syria's dictator.

She's said to be obsessed with Louboutin shoes even as America is poised to unleash cruise missiles on her country.

Slim and stylish, 38-year-old Asma also recently went on a shopping spree in London, buying furniture worth half-a-million dollars.

She's reportedly holed up in a bombproof bunker, but she's still obsessed with keeping slim, wearing a calorie counter on her wrist.

Gone is the image she projected of a caring, compassionate first lady in a CNN interview in 2009.

A former government official was quoted as saying, "She has no heart. She is obsessed by how chic and beautiful she looks."

Asma, who was born in London, actually had dinner with her dictator-husband and then Senator John Kerry and his wife Teresa in 2009.

Now, the Secretary of State is comparing Asma's husband to Hitler, "Bashar al-Assad now joins a list of Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein who have used these weapons in times of war."

As the world waits for America's response, Asma's 11-year-old son is taunting the U.S. On Facebook he wrote, "I just want them to attack sooo much because I want them to make this huge mistake of beginning something that they don't know the end of."

Like mother, like son.
