Toby Sherman lights up when she talks about her boy, Jerry. He's the baby of the family, the youngest of six children.
Behind her love for her son is a moving backstory. Toby was one week pregnant with Jerry when her husband was killed in a plane crash.
Jerry said, "Being a single mom raising six kids, working two jobs, she worked her butt off."
They struggled to get by, and through it all Toby held on to the dream of maybe one day driving a nice car.
Tody told INSIDE EDITION, "I said one day I'm going to get a Mercedes that I can drive. Of course, that never happened because they're very expensive and I had six children to raise."
Jerry is now a successful businessman and when his mom turned 70, he figured she was due for something very special.
So, when he brought his car to a Mercedes dealership in Westwood, Massachusetts, to get serviced, he took mom along and showed her around. He guided her to one car in particular. She had no idea she was about to get the greatest present of her life. A brand new $40,000 Mercedes.
Jerry captured the moment on his cellphone.
"You're not going to have a heart attack on me?" he asked.
"Oh my God," exclaimed Toby.
"You like it?" he asked.
Her reaction was priceless.
Toby said, "I can't take it."
"Too bad. You already took it. Here's the keys. You better smile, you're on camera and your friends are going to see it," insisted Jerry.
Overjoyed, Toby said, "This is my car! It's the best present I ever got! Every time I get into it, I think of Jerry and the gift he gave me. He's very special."
