So, just  who is Anna Benson? Before she married a baseball player, before she became a reality TV star, it turned out she had quite a past. INSIDE EDITION has learned she has a dark skeleton in her past involving the murder of a teenage boy.

It has been 17 years since Michael Evans and his wife, Romaine, last saw Anna Benson. That's when she got caught up in the execution style murder of their son, Michael Jr.

"It was just a matter of time before this monster resurfaced," said Michael Evans."She was there. She was the one in the room with her boyfriend, and from what I'm told, ordered him to kill our son.

Michael Jr. lived in an upscale Knoxville home with his mom and dad, a nuclear engineer.

In January of 1996,  Michael Jr. was hanging out with Anna and her then boyfriend, Paul Dejongh, when the teen was shot to death. The story was so sensational it ended up a reenactment on America's Most Wanted .

"Her words were, from all I've been told, 'get rid of him,' and that's no different than if you got these gangsters. When they use term, 'get rid of him,' we all know what it means," said Michael.

Anna was charged with murder but jumped bail and fled with her boyfriend. After a five month manhunt, she was apprehended in Oregon.

"I think Anna is as guilty as the person who pulled the trigger," said Romaine.

Paul Dejongh was also captured and pled guilty to second degree murder. All charges against Anna were dropped, for lack of evidence.

"If Anna was innocent, then why did she flee? Why did she stay away so long? She's guilty as sin, and yes, indeed, and she got away with murder," said Michael.

Now, 17 years later, the Evans' are not suprised to find Anna Benson shackled in court and charged with a violent crime.

"I think that her husband was extremely lucky," commented Michael.

Anna Benson was charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault—a far cry from her days as a glamorous baseball wife. According to reports, she has denied any wrongdoing.

"She needs to know we live in a land of laws. When you break 'em there's consequences, " said Michael.
