INSIDE EDITION is learning more about this shocking moment on live TV as an enraged college basketball player shoves a spectator.
An announcer said, "That's disgusting behavior. Disgusting!"
Now, a just-released YouTube video let's us hear what the fan said that set the player off, who said, “You piece of crap!”
The ugly confrontation began when Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart fell under the basket with just six seconds left in his team's loss to arch rival Texas Tech. Smart leapt to his feet and shoved a Texas Tech fan in the chest with both hands. Smart had to be restrained by teammates and was thrown out of the game.
Smart told officials he flipped out when the fan used the “N” word, but in the new video, shot by another spectator, it can be heard that the fan said, “You piece of crap!”
The player later apologized for going ballistic and has been suspended for three games, saying, “I really do apologize for it. Like I said, I will take responsibility and consequences for it."
This is what INSIDE EDITION learned about the fan at the center of the melee. His name is Jeff Orr. In a video posted on YouTube by Texas Tech he's called a "Fan Extraordinaire" who attends every game - even those out of town.
Orr is an air traffic controller and a 1983 Texas Tech graduate. He has a reputation of being an over-the-top fan. At a 2010 game, he stuck his tongue out at a rival player.
Orr is now apologizing to Marcus Smart, saying in a statement: "I regret calling Mr. Smart a 'piece of crap,' but I want to make it known that I did not use a racial slur of any kind."
The super fan has agreed not to attend any more Texas Tech games this season.
