Were the US Women’s Hockey team sore losers after their defeat to Canada? INSIDE EDITION explains.
Sore losers? That was the accusation thrown at the heralded US Women's hockey team Friday after they were beaten by arch rivals, Canada, for the gold medal.
America took the silver, but Team USA is being criticized for glum faces and tears right after the loss and also during the medal ceremony.
Kathie Lee Gifford said on the Today show, “People are saying, ‘We wish you could have been more magnanimous.’”
On the Today show Friday, star forward Hilary Knight was asked about the example the players were setting for young fans. She said, "Whenever us competitive athletes you get us going and we lose our last game, it doesn’t feel great.”
Of course, the reaction in Canada is one of utter elation. Notorious Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, went bananas at a city council meeting over the victory.
Meanwhile, there's anger over the outcome of the women's figure skating. Russian skater Adelina Sotnikova took the gold, despite a bad landing during her performance. Yet she still won, even though South Korea's Yuna Kim gave what many hailed as a flawless routine. She won silver.
Good Morning America reported, “Two of the skating judges reportedly have Russian ties-- One is said to be married to the director the Russian Figure Skating Federation. Another was previously suspended have trying to fix an event in the 1998 games.” Overnight, an online petition calling for the judging to be investigated collected nearly two million signatures worldwide.
Also, INSIDE EDITION was the first to reveal that the video supposedly showing a wolf roaming the Olympic Village was really a Jimmy Kimmel stunt. Kimmel confirmed it was all a prank on his show Thursday night.
Kimmel told viewers, “That was not a Russian wolf. That was an American wolf and I know this because the wolf is backstage right now. We shot the video.”
