Joran van der Sloot in "Hell"

Joran van der Sloot is incarcerated in a Peruvian prison known as "Hell on Earth." INSIDE EDITION has details of his confession to Peruvian police, which his attorney says was coerced.

Joran van der Sloot has entered hell, the violent world of a Peruvian prison known as "Hell on Earth."

Cameras rolled as he was given a medical exam and a full body scan. His fingerprints were taken and then he posed for a mug shot

He complained to guards he had not eaten in nearly two days and was promised a meal. But mealtime for many of the prisoners consists of jostling for leftovers.

The prison is featured on National Geographic Channel's World's Toughest Prisons. Half of the 10,000 inmates have AIDS and other diseases.

Van der Sloot has become one of the most hated men in Peru. Crowds screamed 'Killer!' and 'Murderer!' as he was taken to the prison.

Van der Sloot sleeps on a bare mattress on the floor.

The world is hearing new details about van der Sloot's reported confession to murdering 21-year-old Stephany Flores.

He said he hit her after he caught her reading an e-mail about Natalee Holloway on his computer.

"With my right elbow I hit her in the face exactly on top of the nose," he told police. "What am I going to do now? I had blood on my shirt. There was also blood on the bed. So I took my shirt and put it on her face pressing hard until I killed Stephany."

Van der Sloot's family and his attorney say the confession was coerced.
