General McChrystal Under Fire for Remarks About President Obama

INSIDE EDITION reports on General Stanley McChrystal's stinging criticism of the Obama administration that led President Obama to summon McChrystal to leave Afghanistan and report in person to the White House.

The nation is shocked by General Stanley McChrystal's stinging criticism of the Obama administration.

Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos said, "He has really stirred up a hornet's nest."

Harry Smith on the Early Show said, "There are all kinds of scathing allegations in it."

President Obama is described as "extremely angry" about the Rolling Stone profile entitled "The Runaway General."

The article quotes McChrystal as saying he was "pretty disappointed" by his first one-on-one meeting with Obama. He also described the President as "uncomfortable and intimidated" in the presence of McChrystal and other senior military officials.

Brit Hume on Fox News said, "This is a firing offense."

Now President Obama wants answers, ordering McChrystal to leave Afghanistan and appear in person at the White House Wednesday.  McChrystal will also face Vice President Biden, who is mocked by McChrystal and his staff in the article. "Biden? Did you say: bite me?" one top advisor to McChrystal jokes.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked whether McChrystal will be fired. "I would say all options are on the table," said Gibbs.

One reporter read this quote from the article, "A McChrystal advisor said Obama clearly didn't know anything about McChrystal when they first met. Here's the guy who's going to run his war, but he didn't seem very engaged. The boss was pretty disappointed."

Gibbs said, "He'll have his undivided attention tomorrow."

Here's McChrystal's bio. He's a West Point graduate. His wife's name is Annie. He prefers beer to wine, and his favorite movies are Talledega Nights and Monty Python.

A humbled McChrystal issued this apology, "I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened."
