INSIDE EDITION is now learning that released POW Bowe Bergdahl was reportedly discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard for psychological reasons two years before he joined the Army.
The Washington Post also obtained a journal Bergdahl shipped home to his friend Kim Harrison in Idaho just days before he was captured by the Taliban in 2009.
"I am the lone wolf of deadly nothingness,” Bergdahl writes. “Trying to keep myself together. I'm so tired of the blackness...Bloody Hell why do I keep thinking of this over and over."
The Washington Post says "Bergdahl's writings reveal a fragile young man."
As he prepared to deploy to Afghanistan, Bergdahl made a list of his favorite movies, they included Marry Poppins and the creepy thriller, The Silence of the Lambs.
Bergdahl also sent this e-mail to his friend in Idaho just three days before he walked off his post: "This life is too short to serve those who compromise value and its ethics. I am done compromising."
