The first images of the family from Houston, Texas who was slaughtered, allegedly, by a crazed uncle have emerged. The pictures of Katie and Stephen Stay and their five children were posted on Facebook before their happy lives were cut short by accused gunman Ron Lee Haskell.
Haskell came to their home in an affluent suburb of Houston disguised as a FedEx driver. He was looking for his ex-wife and when he didn't find her, he tied the family up and shot them one by one, execution style, according to police.
Katie Stay is the sister of Haskell's estranged wife, Melanie. Haskell's 15-year-old niece survived and despite a gunshot wound to the head, the brave teen managed to call 911. Police say that she said Haskell was on his way to her grandparent’s house to kill them too.
Police caught up with Haskell driving a silver Sedan and gave chase. The pursuit was broadcast live on TV. One cop threw a spike strip at Haskell’s car, puncturing a tire. Finally, he was cornered in a cul-de-sac.
When he refused to surrender, police moved in with two armored vehicles and settled down for siege with Haskell holding a gun to his own head.
After a three hour standoff, the crazy uncle gave himself up. He was charged with wiping out an innocent family.
