A viral video is warming hearts everywhere. In the video, a daughter surprised her dad by giving him a vintage Porsche sports car, exactly like the one he gave up 24 years ago to pay for his wedding.
Dave Manley is the dad in the most touching video you'll ever see. He choked up as he told INSIDE EDITION, “She said it was for me. Best moment of my life.”
Kristin Russell is Dave’s step-daughter and they're close as close can be. She said, “We both started crying because it was such an emotional moment.”
Dave married Kristin’s mom in 1990 and to afford a nice wedding he had to use all the money he was saving to restore his beloved 1973 Porsche 914.
Dave said, “If I had to do it all over again, I would.”
But he really missed that old car. He even saved many of the parts to it like the original radio and the speedometer.
Kristin, who's a captain in the U.S. Air Force knew what the car meant to her dad. She spent two years searching for an exact copy on the internet.
She said, “I think it would mean a lot to him and really drive home how grateful I am to have grown up with him in my life.”
She finally found a perfect match on eBay and had the Porsche shipped to her dad's home outside Philadelphia. On Father's Day, with cameras rolling, she sprang the surprise.
“He hugged me and said, ‘No, no, no, this is too much’ and I said, ‘This is me returning something to you,’” she told INSIDE EDITION.
Now, her dad has his beloved Porsche back. He drives it all over the neighborhood and gives it tender loving care. But what he really has is a daughter's love, saying, “It wasn't about the car. It was the gesture of love and caring."
