Shocking Twist - Cops Say Mom Went Looking For Suspect In Road Rage Murder

New details have surfaced on that fatal road rage incident in Las Vegas. There is a shocking twist in the case which INSIDE EDITION reports has some people now wondering if the death of a mother could have been avoided.

There are stunning new twists in the road rage tragedy that's getting national attention.

Cops now reveal that mother-of-four Tammy Meyers went looking for the driver she had just had been confronted by.

Las Vegas cops initially thought Tammy was gunned down after being followed home. But now, they say Tammy made it home safely after the road rage incident, and then asked her grown son to come with her and search for the other driver.

At a press conference Lt. Ray Steiber of Las Vegas Metro Police said, “Her 22-year-old son came out of the house, got into the car, he was armed with a firearm that is registered to him, and then they left the house."

Cops say Tammy found the other car, believed to be a silver Sedan, and followed it for a short period. The encounter ended up back at Tammy's home, where the other driver opened fire. Tammy's son, Brandon, fired back.

At the press conference, Lt. Steiber said, “When the firing was done, he found that his mother, who was standing off to his side and behind him, had been struck by gunfire.”

INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney asked Jane Velez-Mitchell, editor of JaneUnchained.com, "Does this new information change the complexion of the case?"

Velez-Mitchell replied, "The whole complexion of the case has changed radically because it would appear that this mom, some would say went out looking for trouble. We can't blame the victim, she was protecting her brood. But, it may not have been the wisest thing. Indeed it was a tragic decision."

The revelations came as Tammy's family and friends held a candlelight vigil. They included Tammy's daughter, Kristal, who until last night, was kept under wraps by her family.

Kristal said, "My mom was my everything. She was my best friend."

Brandon said at the vigil, "I did what I had to do to protect my family. Everyone can think what they think. I did it for a reason."

Cops say Tammy had been giving Kristal a driving lesson that fateful night when the silver Sedan came up behind them, then roared past. The daughter reached over from the passenger seat and honked the horn in admonishment. Both cars pulled over and an argument followed.

Kristal said at the vigil, "My mom was protecting me this night. She was doing everything any mother would do which was protect her baby."
