Here's How Sarah Palin Set Up Bristol With Her War Hero Fiance Dakota Meyer

"Sgt. Dakota Meyer proposed and I said yes!"

It was matchmaker mom Sarah Palin who introduced her daughter, Bristol, to her new fiancé, American hero Dakota Meyer.

The couple met a year ago when Mama Palin invited Sergeant Meyer to Alaska to film an episode of her cable TV show, Amazing America with Sarah Palin, on the Sportsman's Channel.

The former Vice Presidential candidate took to Facebook to gush about her future son-in-law, saying, "Our families couldn't be happier for Bristol and Dakota! We're honored to welcome Dakota into our family."

Bristol, a former contestant on Dancing with the Stars, showed off her engagement ring on Instagram. She also posted a video of Dakota onstage at a Rascal Flatts concert in Las Vegas Friday night - he had proposed just minutes earlier.

Bristol tweeted, "Cannot wait to marry this man. Really the luckiest girl in the world."

Sergeant Meyer is a genuine American hero.

In 2011, President Obama presented him with the Medal of Honor, the military's highest accolade, for rescuing 36 soldiers during a deadly ambush in Afghanistan in 2009.

Obama stated, "You did your duty, above and beyond."

The hero Marine doesn't shy away from controversy. Two months ago, he posed with Sarah Palin with a sign, "[Expletive] You Michael Moore," after Moore caused a firestorm when he called American snipers "cowards."

A patriot who speaks his mind - he should fit right in with the Palins.
