A California dad is being hailed a hero after pushing his 11-year-old daughter out of the way of an oncoming car and taking the impact himself.

“My main objective was to push her out of the way and if I had to take the hit, I had to take the hit,” Michael Devore told InsideEdition.com.

Devore explained that he and his daughter Ryan were crossing a busy Los Angeles intersection when a red car came out of nowhere.

“As I look to the right, I see this car coming,” he recalled.

He lunged forward to push his daughter out of the way, and took the brunt of the impact.

“It was so scary so I started crying,” his daughter Ryan said.

Her dad suffered multiple fractures to both legs, but is now being hailed a hero for keeping his preteen daughter safe.

“I just did what a dad does,” he said.

The driver of the car is still being sought by police.
