It started off rocky, when Stormy Daniels broke her silence first on Inside Edition in February after she accused the president of giving her hush money for having an affair with him years ago.
In March, she appeared on "60 Minutes," spilling the beans on her alleged one-night stand with the president, saying she was not attracted to him and did not want to have sex with the Trump. However, she said “it was consensual.”
That same week, former Playboy model Karen McDougal also spoke out, telling CNN's Anderson Cooper that she had a 10-month affair with President Trump in 2006. She also told Cooper she was in love with Trump and claimed that he told her that he was in love with her.
The president has denied all allegations of affairs.
In April, the FBI raided the offices of Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, who later told investigators he facilitated hush money payments to both women on behalf of the president.
Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison earlier this month for crimes including arranging the payments.
First lady Melania Trump was also the center of attention in 2018, raising eyebrows for her fashion choices.
In June, Melania donned a $39 Zara jacket that read “I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?” on the back as she boarded a plane headed to see the migrant children separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Months later, she said it was a message aimed at her critics, saying, “It was for the left-wing media who are criticizing me to show them I don't care.”
In October, the first lady also caused a stir while wearing a hat during her tour of Africa that some say resembled a pith helmet from the harsh colonial era.
In addition, there were many notable departures from the White House, including Hope Hicks and Omarosa Manigault-Newman.
But the year may best be remembered for Trump's trips abroad.
The president came face to face with North Korea's Kim Jung Un in June, while the Trumps had tea with the queen in July.
In July, Trump had a 131-minute closed-door meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland. The meeting caused a headache for congressional lawmakers and the American intelligence community because it remains unknown what was said between the two leaders.
On Christmas Day, Trump made a surprise visit to American troops stationed in Iraq and later in Germany. It was his first visit to the troops overseas.
