Deputy Who Saved Her Partner After Being Shot Was Once a Librarian

Los Angeles County deputy Claudia Apolinar, 31, is a real life superhero. She was shot in the face and shot in the upper torso several times and still managed to save the life of her partner using a tourniquet before medics arrived. The heroic officer and her 24-year-old partner were both shot at close range by an unknown gunman while sitting in their patrol car on Saturday. Apolinar was sworn in only 14 months ago, and was formerly a librarian.
