Melania Trump Spotted for the First Time in Weeks During White House Event

President Trump even addressed the first lady's "disappearance" in a joke to Gold Star families.

First lady Melania Trump has been spotted publicly for the first time in 25 days.

The first lady was seen in official photos from inside a ceremony at the White House Monday for Gold Star families, those who have lost loved ones in battle.

It was the first time she has been seen since undergoing kidney surgery on May 14.

Daily Caller reporter Jena Greene, an attendee of the event whose father was killed in action in Iraq, recorded a video of Melania’s appearance.

Melania donned a black dress while walking into the East Room with President Trump.

"To me, she looked like the beautiful first lady we are all used to seeing," Greene said.

During the ceremony, the president actually made a "Where's Melania?" joke.

Inside Edition spoke to Kate Anderson Brower, Washington insider and author of the new book "First in Line: Presidents, Vice Presidents, and the Pursuit of Power," who says Melania is making it worse by staying out of the spotlight and her office should fill that hole.

"In America, we expect to have a first lady who is active and involved," Brower said.

Melania will join President Trump on a visit to FEMA Headquarters Wednesday, when he will discuss the 2018 hurricane season.
