Month and Venue Set for Royal Wedding as Early Details of Highly Anticipated Nuptials Emerge

The long-awaited union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will occur in May 2018, it was announced Tuesday. 

The ceremony will take place in the 700-year-old St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, which is located just 25 miles from central London. 

The announcement was made on social media Tuesday morning.

The ornate Gothic chapel offers a less spectacular setting than Westminster Abby, where Harry's brother William wed Duchess Catherine in 2011. 

By choosing May, the couple avoided a potential clash with the April birth of William and Catherine’s third child, as well as Queen Elizabeth II's appearance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London and Windsor also taking place that month.

Meanwhile, outtake footage of Monday’s BBC interview with Harry and Markle is showing another side of the couple, goofing around as cameras were rolling. The mics were turned off, but Harry can be seen teasing Meghan at one point for interrupting him.

The interview, which was their first official as an engaged couple, was released Monday afternoon, during which they explained how Harry proposed. 

“It was just an amazing surprise,” Markle gushed. “It was just so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee. As a matter of fact, I could barely let [him] finish proposing. I was like, ‘Can I say ‘yes’ now?’”
