Prince William says he hopes newly engaged brother Harry will stop stealing his food.

Pesky little brothers. When they're not hogging the royal spotlight, they're stealing your food.

Prince William cracked a joke Wednesday about brother Harry's newly announced engagement to American actress Meghan Markle.

"For me, personally, I hope it means he stays out my fridge and will stop scrounging my food, which he's done for the last few years," the elder brother quipped during a visit to Helsinki, Finland.

Asked how he felt about his brother's pending nuptials, William replied, "We're very excited and delighted for them both and wishing them all the happiness in this very exciting time."

The couple announced Monday they had become engaged earlier this month over a dinner of roasted chicken. They plan to wed in the spring.

The royal brothers are close friends as well. Harry served as best man when William married Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

Duchess Kate, during a visit to the Foundling Museum in London on Tuesday, also saluted the couple, saying "We wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment."

In their first joint interview, Harry and his fiancee talked about her introduction to Kate and Will.

"You know, I'd been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didn't tell anybody at all," Harry said. "And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine. So you know, being our neighbors, we managed to get that in a couple of, well quite a few times now."
