    Slashings can happen anywhere and there important tips you need to know to protect yourself from an attack, says security expert Steve Kardian. He told INSIDE EDITION if you are looking down at your phone, you will not see anyone coming. He also advised to not keep the volume on your earbuds too high. "Make brief eye contact, putting [them] on notice," he advises. If you can't run to safety, Kardian advised the best way to fight back is to "grab, drag the (attacker's) arm to ground."

    Prince's 'Purple Rain' isn't a traditional Christmas song, but this year, a family in Minnesota considers it a honorary holiday tune. Mike Staudt creates a light display on his home every year. This time around, he set Christmas decorations to a hometown hero's hit, drawing thousands. It took more than a year to make and doubles as a way to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Staudt says he's only a casual Prince fan but regrets not taking advantage of being in close proximity to the singer.

    9-Year-Old Girl Wants to Collect 350 Blankets To Keep Kids Warm This Winter

    9-year-old Emma Burkhart has been able to rally her community to collect blankets for kids to help them stay warm this winter. She got the idea last year when she was gifted two of the same blanket and wanted to give one away. She figured others could use blankets too and started the "Keep Kids Warm Blanket Drive" in her town of Durant, Oklahoma. Local businesses served as drop-off points for the drive and helped Emma collect 200 blankets! This year she's set a loftier goal: 350 blankets.
