Cissy Houston defends her daughter Whitney, as she speaks out for the first time since Whitney's death. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Whitney Houston's mom Cissy belted out a gospel song in the same church where, just six weeks ago, her daughter's funeral was held.
"I don't want to remember that, but can't seem to forget it," said Cissy.
The still-grieving mom returned to the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey for her first inverview since Whitney died. In the interview with WWOR-TV in New York, Cissy says she was furious at all the negative media coverage following Whitney's death.
"They really chopped at her—one time I had thought about coming on and really socking but I know my temperment, and let them say and think what they want to say. I just hope they never come and say it to me," said Cissy.
She also acknowledges that Whitney was not perfect.
"She had her ups and downs, but who hasn't," said Cissy.
Cissy tells interviewer Brenda Blackmon that she chooses to remember Whitney as a loving daughter.
"Anything you could have done differently?" asked Blackmon.
"Not really," said Cissy, "because my children were my whole life, she was very special to me. If I thought I could do something to bring her back, that's exactly what I'd do. But I know that's impossible."
