Miss Alabama Turns Heads During College Football Championship Game

Airdate: 01/08/2013

Katherine Webb is America’s newest sweetheart.

Beautiful Webb stole the spotlight during Monday night's College Football Championship game between the University of Alabama and Notre Dame. She's the reigning Miss Alabama, and also dates Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron.

Here's what happened when legendary broadcaster, Brent Musburger, spotted her in the crowd.

Musburger said, "I tell you, you quarterbacks get all the beautiful women. I mean, what a beautiful woman. Whoa!"

ESPN cameras showed the 23-year-old not once, not twice, but five times.

Now, 73-year-old Musburger's enthusiasm is raising some eyebrows.

On the Today show, Matt Lauer said, "It was a little over the top Brent."

On Live with Kelly and Michael, Michael Strahan said, "Even the announcers were like, 'Oh she is hot.'"

Katherine started off the game with about 500 Twitter followers. Now, she has more than 135,000.

Katherine's boyfriend led the Crimson Tide to its second consecutive national championship. But after he learned about all the screen time that his girlfriend was getting, he said, "Hey, I guess she's more famous than me."

It's not the first time that a gorgeous girl has come out of nowhere to make a name for herself at a game.

Kate Upton was an unknown model until a video of her dancing in her seat at a Los Angeles Clippers game went viral. It caught the attention of top modeling agents, and, less than a year later, she was on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

Katherine Webb made the top 10 in the Miss USA pageant last June.

But she had no idea during the game that she was the subject of national obsession. She says her phone battery died from all the calls and e-mails she received.

Later, she tried to refocus attention on her man, tweeting, "Congrats to Alabama and making history!"
