Amanda Bynes Busted on Drug Charge

Believe it or not, Hollywood starlet Amanda Bynes appeared in court wearing a ratty wig.

The troubled actress looked like a train wreck when she appeared before a New York judge Friday after her latest run-in with the law.

Bynes had the long blonde wig on when she was taken into custody the night before on drug charges. Cops made her take it off when they took her mugshot.

Comparing how she looks now, short-haired and gaunt, to her fresh-faced look in the hit movie Easy A is a shock.

Bynes was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation following her arrest.

Cops were called to Bynes' Manhattan apartment building after a doorman reported she was smoking marijuana in the lobby.

When officers arrived at the building on West 47th Street, they found Bynes in her 36th floor apartment. Police say Bynes freaked out and threw a bong out her window. Fortunately, no one on the ground was hurt. 

The former child star of Nickelodeons' The Amanda Show was charged with marijuana possession, reckless endangerment and tampering with police evidence.  

She denies the charges.Her explanation about the bong? "It was just a vase."

Bynes spoke a couple of times in court. She was asked, "Do you live in Manhattan?"

"Yes, I do," she replied.

She was released without bail. As she left the court, Bynes tried to hide her face with papers she had been given by officials. She jumped into a taxi and drove off, studying the court papers.

And the wig was still firmly in place when she arrived back at her apartment after court, besieged by photographers.

This is just the latest in series of bizarre incidents involving the 27-year-old actress since she left Hollywood and moved to New York to start a new life.

She recently tweeted this topless photo of herself, and has frequently been seen behaving erratically around the Times Square area.

Now, this latest bizarre appearance by a once-promising star.
