Hugh Jackman Hops Into Tony Awards Hosting Gig

It was one memorable show opening when Hugh Jackman hopped non-stop through his first number to kick off the Tony Awards. INSIDE EDITION has more.

Host Hugh Jackman got the show off to a hoppin' start. The Australian-born actor bounced like a kangaroo for his big opening number. He jumped up and down for three-and-a-half minutes. He didn't miss a beat as he hopped right into his tuxedo jacket.  He even seamlessly joined the star of Rocky The Musical for a little jump rope. He then hopped past a stern-faced Clint Eastwood. Then, Jackman jumped right onto the stage at Radio City Music Hall.

Jackman's non-stop hopping was actually a tribute to the 1953 film Small Town Girl, when actor Bobby Van hopped his way through town. During the performance, Jackman hopped by a TV set playing a clip from the film.

Trainer Timothy Mandala at New York Health and Racquet Club and INSIDE EDITION producer Lara Yunaska jumped just like Jackman, and made it to three minutes.

"Oh my God," said Yunaska. "That is hard."

Jackman also showed off his rap skills at Sunday night's Tony Awards. He joined forces with rappers LL Cool J and T.I. to perform a hip-hop version of the opening number from The Music Man.

Later, LL Cool J Instagrammed a photo with the caption,"First hip hop performance on #thetonyawards".

And another jaw-dropping moment? An unrecognizable Neil Patrick Harris performed underneath a blond wig and mini skirt! The How I Met Your Mother actor performed a raunchy number from the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He went on to win the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical.

It was a night to remember thanks to hopalong Hugh Jackman.
