There was a giant sea of people outside at UCLA Medical Center five years ago when word got out that Michael Jackson had died.
Distraught fans rushed to the hospital to hear the stunning news from Michael’s brother, Jermaine, who said at a press conference, "His personal physician was with him at the time, attempted to resuscitate my brother."
It was true. The King of Pop was gone!
The bulletin spread around the globe in seconds. In New York, at the famed Apollo Theater people quickly filled the sidewalks.
The tragic details of the singer’s final moments were soon to be revealed. The King of Pop had suffered a massive heart attack at his rented mansion in Bel-Air, brought on by an overdose of Propofol, a powerful sedative.
Tom Mesereau was Michael Jackson’s attorney and friend. He told INSIDE EDITION, “My first reaction was, 'It's another rumor.' Because Michael was always being subjected to wild, crazy rumors. I think he would still be with us but for this horrid doctor that he hired, who really was the cause of his death.”

There was the frantic 911 call placed by Michael’s bodyguard as Dr. Conrad Murray performed CPR. Murray was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Caller: "Sir, we have a gentleman here that needs help. And he's not breathing. He's not breathing."
911 Operator: "He's not conscious? He's not breathing?"
Caller: "He's not responding to anything. He's not responding to CPR or anything."
An ambulance carrying Michael Jackson backed out his driveway and rushed him to UCLA Medical Center, but nothing could be done.
Kai Chase was Michael’s personal chef. She was at the mansion the day he died. She told INSIDE EDITION, “I miss him very much.”

Chase still works for the Jackson family, cooking for Michael’s mother, Katherine, and his children, Paris, Prince, and Blanket.
Chase said, "I feel like that’s a blessing and a gift that Michael gave to me, the opportunity. And I am giving the love back to them by keeping them healthy and feeding them well.”
The children really miss their dad. Fortunately, they are well taken care of financially. Michael’s estate has generated a massive $700 million since his death.
Just last month, a hologram image of Michael appeared onstage at the Billboard Music Awards. It was a remarkable feat of technology and tribute to an artist whose death shocked the world five years ago.
