Ten people were killed and another seven were injured when Chris Harper Mercer, 26, fired in a Umpqua Community College classroom in Roseburg on Thursday morning.
But now it has emerged that messages posted to the website 4Chan might have referenced the shooting before it happened.
On Wednesday night, an anonymous user posted a warning not "go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest."

"So long space robots," it added.
Another post read: "Will post again in am, 10 min countdown. Won't say more to much to prepare."
On Thursday afternoon, authorities confirmed that the gunman was dead but they were unable to confirm the number of victims.

"The shooter threat was neutralized and officers continued to sweep the campus, looking for other threats," Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said during a press conference, noting no officers were injured during the exchange.
A witness said the shooter asked students inside a classroom to stand and state their religion before he started firing, according to OregonLive.com.
Kortney Moore, 18, told the News Review she was sitting in her writing class when a bullet blasted through the window and shot her teacher in the head.
Moore said the shooter entered the classroom, told people to get on the ground, then asked people to state their religion before he started firing in all directions, according to reports.
Hanlin could not confirm the weapon used during the shooting, nor could he confirm if the shooter was a student at the school.
