Miss Kansas Says She is 'Deeply Sorry' After She is Accused of Illegally Shooting a Grizzly Bear
A former beauty queen is apologizing after authorities say she illegally killing a grizzly bear and tried to cover it up.
Theresa Vail, 25, was hunting in Alaska in May when she legally killed one bear, then accidentally shot to death a second bear, which was not allowed.
According to criminal complaints, he tried to fool hunting officials by tagging the second corpse to make it look legitimate.
Vail was Miss Kansas in 2013 and turned heads for being the first contestant in the Miss America Pageant to show her body tattoos.
She currently hosts an adventure show on the Outdoor Channel.
"I am deeply sorry for my mistakes," she told INSIDE EDITION in a statement.
"I unintentionally harvested a second bear while attempting a follow-up shot. I then followed poor advice and allowed the second bear to be improperly tagged," she said.
Vail, who is also a member of the Army National Guard, has said she is fully cooperating with the proper authorities.
