Trump: I'd Give Sarah Palin a Role in My Administration

After Sarah Palin's "proud" endorsement of billionaire Donald Trump for president, he's apparently returning the favor.

On Wednesday, Trump told the Today show’s Savannah Guthrie that while he hasn’t discussed the idea of Palin being his running mate, there “certainly would be a role somewhere in the administration” for the former Alaska governor.

"She's somebody I really like and I respect, and certainly she could play a position if she wanted to," he said.

The comments came hours after Palin endorsed Trump for president.

On Tuesday, the tea party favorite appeared with Trump at a rally in Iowa, where she gave a raucous speech, shouting that Trump would "kick ISIS's a**."

"He's perfectly positioned to let you make America great again. Are you ready for that, Iowa?” asked Palin. “No more pussy-footing around.”

She spoke for about 20 minutes and was her usual, folksy-and-brash self.

"Looking around at all of you, you hard-working Iowa families, you farm families and teachers and teamsters and cops and cooks, you rock-and-rollers and holy rollers!" Palin said. "You all make the world go around and now our cause is one."

As she spoke in Ames, reports surfaced that police in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, had arrested her 26-year-old son, Track, on domestic violence charges following an alleged drunken confrontation between Track Palin and an unidentified woman.

There was no immediate comment from Sarah Palin on the arrest.

Pundits say Palin’s endorsement could be a major boost for Trump. Her endorsement is expected to help him lure conservative Christian voters, whom he courted Monday at an appearance at Liberty University.

Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt told INSIDE EDITION: “Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are in a fierce battle for conservative support. Sarah Palin is someone who really symbolizes the Tea Party movement."

The New York Daily News even mocked the endorsement with a scathing cover for Wednesday's edition.

Trump lost no time praising Palin for her backing. "I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement. She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support,” the Times reported.

But this isn't the first time the topic has come up. A year ago, Palin appeared on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special and joked with Jerry Seinfeld about a Trump-Palin partnership in 2016 race.

She asked the comedian: “How much Lorne Michaels would pay me if I were to run in 2016?”

“I don't think there's a number too big,” Seinfeld said.

She asked: “Hypothetically then, what if I were to choose Donald Trump as my running mate?”

“Sarah, you're teasing us, that's not nice,” the comedian quipped.

There's even speculation that Tina Faye may return to SNL this weekend to revive her iconic impersonation.
