In Jaw-Dropping Announcement, Chris Christie Backs Former Nemesis Donald Trump

In a stunning announcement, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie backs former enemy Donald Trump for president.

Pot, meet the kettle.

Brash New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has thrown his sizable girth behind big-mouthed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, his former nemesis.

Christie, who just two weeks ago was blasting Trump as they battled for the GOP nomination, said Friday the billionaire casino magnate is "the person who will go to Washington, D.C., and be able to absolutely turn the place around."

Standing with Trump at a Texas press conference, Christie said, "There is no one who is better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump."

Christie dropped out of the primary race on Feb. 10, one day after finishing in a dismal sixth place in the New Hampshire. The outspoken politician had traded heated words with Trump in a bitter fight for the nomination.

But on Friday, everything appeared to be sunshine and roses.

"The single most important thing for the party is to nominate the person to give us the best chance to beat Hillary Clinton," Christie said. "The best person to beat Hillary Clinton in November... is undoubtedly Donald Trump."

The bombastic former opponents were also united in their disdain of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who unloaded on Trump during Thursday night's GOP debate and kept up the fusillade on Friday, calling the resort owner "a con artist (who) is about to take over the Republican Party and we have to put a stop to it," on CBS.

Christie called Rubio's debate behavior "desperate" and indicative of his "losing campaign."

Trump insulted Rubio's physical appearance, saying the senator sweated profusely.

Trump, Christie declared: “will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again."
