Megan Alexander's Mama Blog: Boy or Girl?

Catch the latest update from INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander who's chronicling all the stages of expecting a baby.

Hey Everyone!

As a brand new Mama-to-be, I thought it would be fun to blog about my experiences while being pregnant with my first child, and hear your advice and thoughts, as well!

So far, so good. I have felt great. I am at about 5 ½ months along and have literally had 2 days of morning sickness. Well, of course when I started sharing this with people they said, "It's a boy!" and they were right! : ) Have you ever been told that if you don't get sick and feel great, it must be a boy? Many mothers have told me that girls drain all your energy and boys do not. Well, I am sure there are many old wives tales out there, and I would love to hear what you've heard. And to any pregnant women who were sicker than a dog during their pregnancies, I have a new found respect for you I cannot even explain.

I am just starting to wear maternity clothes. As a woman, it is interesting to have no control over your growing belly! As my pants get tight, I have to giggle because I know they will only get tighter! Embrace it and love it, right?

As for cravings, I have had nothing special. I simply crave everything! I have always been a foodie and pregnancy only encourages this. My Doctor does warn me to watch the sweets, however, due to a heightened risk of diabetes for the baby, have you heard this? A fascinating fact to learn and reason to be careful with my diet.

Ironically, today on INSIDE EDITION, I am bringing you the story of a Mother in San Antonio, TX, who has 5 children of her own, and also has served as a Surrogate for 5 other couples. Cori Smelker believes this is her special calling in life. Just as some of us are blessed with a mathematical mind or incredible musical talents, she believe her talent lies in bearing children.

I was uneducated and unaware of the growing popularity of surrogacy until I interviewed Cori. I must say, it caused me the stop and think. After feeling my baby kick in my belly, I could not imagine giving it up! I asked Cori this very question and she gives a compelling answer.

To learn more about her agency, visit this site. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on this story.

I will try and blog about my pregnancy every week or so. Thanks for staying tuned and as always, thanks for watching Inside Edition!
