Dog Masterminds Escape from an Animal Shelter, Breaks Out Through Three Separate Doors

A German Shepherd was determined to get back to her owner and broke out three doors to try.

A German Shepherd pulled an “El Chapo” when she escaped out of a California animal shelter through three sets of doors.

The two-year-old dog, Ginger, was brought into the Apple Valley Animal Shelter last Saturday because her homeless owner could no longer take care of her.

“Her previous owner didn’t want her to live out of a vehicle,” Gina Whiteside told InsideEdition.com “It was a very difficult thing for him.”

Ginger was determined, however, not to be trapped. That afternoon she jumped over and out of her six-foot kennel and managed to open three closed doors, in what Whiteside said she thinks was an attempt for the pup to get back to her owner.

Ginger quickly set motion sensor alarms off in the building and animal control was called to investigate but by that time, she was already gone. She made sure to make an exit too,  jumping on chairs and counter tops in the lobby before her departure.

“When the animal control officer came, he noticed that the front counter phones were all over the floor and papers as well,” said Whiteside. “It looked like someone trashed the front area.”

Three days later Ginger turned up a few blocks away from her previous owner’s house and was taken back to the shelter. She’s now in a much more secure space at the shelter.

Tons of people are already calling to adopt Ginger.

“She’s a pretty awesome dog,” Whiteside said.
